Global CCS Institute CEO Meets with Members of Bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus

6th March 2020

The Global CCS Institute CEO Brad Page met members of the bipartisan Senate Climate Solutions Caucus today to discuss the role of carbon capture and storage (CCS) in the global energy transition. The informational meeting served to inform about the importance of U.S. innovation leadership to improve global technology access for a lowest-cost energy transition, as well as approaches to CCS commercialization globally.

Governments globally are including CCS into their climate strategies. New policy mechanisms like the reformed 45Q and California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard have led to the next wave of CCS facilities being planned in the US. This is an important milestone to drive CCS application in new industries including cement and steel, as well as unlock the large-scale production of clean hydrogen from natural resources”, said Brad Page, CEO, Global CCS Institute.

Ahead of the meeting, the Global CCS Institute also released a Brief for Policymakers: CCS - Targeting Climate Change of its flagship publication Global Status of CCS 2019: Targeting Climate Change which was first launched at the COP25 in Madrid.
